Ukraine launched a significant drone attack on Moscow overnight, injuring two individuals and sparking fires across multiple buildings, prompting a massive retaliatory ballistic missile barrage on Kyiv.
Governor Andrei Vorobyov stated air defense forces and electronic warfare systems repelled the drone attack on the Moscow region. Consequences struck Podolsk, Domodedovo, and the Odintsovo district.
Black smoke billowed over Podolsk in Moscow Oblast after a suspected drone strike hit an oil facility. Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, evacuated its logistics center in Podolsk as a precautionary measure.
Fires also erupted at a residential building in Domodedovo and a warehouse belonging to a major Russian retailer after a drone strike. The Russian Defence Ministry asserted air defense systems shot down 381 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov overnight.
This escalation intensifies Kyiv's strikes on Russian territory in recent months. Ukraine describes these actions as retribution for over four years of bombardments against its own territory.
