Three Dead, One Critical After Shoreham-by-Sea Incident

Emergency services responded to four people in distress off the Sussex coast, closing major roads as a family reportedly entered the water for a swim.

A man, a woman, and a teenage girl have died after encountering difficulties in the sea off Shoreham-by-Sea.
Emergency services responded to reports of four individuals in distress near Shoreham Fort around 2:40 PM. James Collis confirmed, 'Despite the efforts of paramedics, three people – a man, a woman, and a teenage girl – were confirmed deceased.'
Several ambulances and two air ambulances converged near the RNLI station in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, on Tuesday afternoon. Two additional lifeboats launched from Brighton lifeboat station shortly after 3 PM.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, three people – a man, a woman, and a teenage girl – were confirmed deceased.

Sussex Police immediately closed the A259 Brighton Road in both directions, between New Road and Kingston Lane. Road closures were implemented around the scene.
A substantial emergency service presence remained off the Sussex coast as the incident unfolded. The family is understood to have entered the water from land for a swim, and their next of kin have been informed.
The coastguard is not searching for anyone else. Authorities urged the public to stay clear of the area.
