A 23-year-old student has been shot dead during ongoing protests in Iran.
Rubina Aminian, a textile and fashion design student at Shariati College in Tehran, was of Kurdish Iranian heritage, hailing from Marivan in the western part of the country.
She was shot dead during the ongoing protests in Iran.
Sources close to Aminian's family, citing eyewitness accounts, say the bullet struck her head from behind at close range.
Iran Human Rights reports that intelligence forces surrounded the family home following the killing.
After identifying her body in Tehran, Aminian's family returned to find their home besieged by security forces. They were reportedly forced to bury her by the side of a road in Kermanshah.
These circumstances underscore the intense pressure faced by grieving families as the state attempts to suppress the scale of the unrest.
The overall death toll from the protests has reached 490 protesters and at least 48 other individuals, highlighting the severity of the crackdown.
Iran Human Rights claims a total of 500 people have died, a figure that exceeds the current consensus death toll.
Authorities have issued warnings that protesters face the death penalty, while an estimated 10,600 people have been arrested in connection with the demonstrations.
A nationwide internet blackout remains in effect across Iran as the government struggles to contain the movement.
