Mr. Winter
Ian Winter KC stated, "Having seen the ways matters have been characterised in today’s press I consider my professional duty requires me to self-report those allegations to the Bar Standards Board, so the matter can be subject to proper scrutiny. I have made such a report."
The Bar Standards Board previously declined to comment on whether it had received complaints against Mr. Winter. Ms. Urwin, for her part, stated, "I’m pleased justice has been done."

Brand's legal team argued through his lawyer that he had been wrongly accused, a victim of a media conspiracy. Ian Winter KC claimed that reporting by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches had poisoned the well of justice against his client.
Mr. Winter suggested that journalists who exposed Brand as a sexual predator were "criminals." He maintained they may have committed perverting the course of justice. He further claimed that reporting of allegations against Brand by Ms. Urwin and others had "poisoned the well," making a fair trial impossible.
