A man died and a woman was critically injured after two cars collided during a police pursuit near Stratford-upon-Avon.
The male driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene; a passenger in the Ford sustained potentially serious injuries and was transported to Warwickshire Hospital.
The incident reportedly occurred around 5:23 PM on Monday, August 24; several other vehicles are understood to have sustained damage during the pursuit.
The A439 Warwick Road remains closed from the Marraway roundabout to its junction with Ingon Lane and Sandbanks Lane.
Works were carried out on the road two years ago to reduce crashes, including a one-way system, a lowered speed limit, and a protected turning lane at the Ingon Lane junction.
Warwickshire Police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the circumstances preceding the collision.
