A serious collision involving a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat occurred on the A66 in South Bank early Saturday.
The incident, confirmed by Cleveland Police, occurred around 3:39 AM this morning on the A66 in South Bank, near Middlesbrough in Teesside.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson stated the collision has resulted in multiple fatalities. The North East Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that "a number of patients died at the scene" despite the best efforts of everyone attending.
Significant emergency vehicles are present at the scene. A Cleveland Police spokesperson noted that "the road will remain closed for some time."
The road will remain closed for some time.
The A66 remains closed in both directions between Normanby Road and Church Lane in Eston. The public has been asked to use alternative routes.
