Clare Laskey, 47, died after being struck by a lorry on the A30 near Whiddon Down, having exited her overturned car.
The incident unfolded around 10 PM on October 15, 2024, when the car carrying Clare Laskey aquaplaned and overturned. Her partner stated they drove towards Bristol Airport for a romantic getaway.
The vehicle slid off the road, rolling over four times after her partner lost control while travelling at 60 mph.
It then returned to the inner lane of the A30, where a lorry driver confirmed his presence. He spotted a man waving his arms in the nearside lane.
The lorry driver claimed he hit the car "before he had time to think." He stated the vehicle had no lights and he did not see it prior to impact.
He further stated he saw a man waving his arms but lacked time to brake or avoid Clare Laskey. The collision occurred with immediate force.
The inquest, convened on July 27, 2026, concluded with Coroner Alison Longhorn recording a road traffic collision. This finding provides the official cause of death.
