Dame Jenni Murray Dies After Car Crash Complications
Broadcaster suffered rib and sternum fractures in March 4 collision near Hampstead Heath, leading to bronchopneumonia.

Dame Jenni Murray, the former BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour presenter, has died from complications following a car crash.
Jennifer, driving at the time, became dazzled by vehicle lights and collided with two stationary vehicles, Dr Clare Morkane stated. Following the collision, Jennifer could not recall events, exited the vehicle independently, and was conveyed to hospital.
The cause of death was determined as bronchopneumonia, resulting from rib and sternum fractures sustained in the accident. Murray was admitted to the Royal Free Hospital on 4 March 2026, where she subsequently developed bronchopneumonia.
Jennifer died peacefully on 12 March 2026 at approximately 15.45 hours.
The Metropolitan Police reportedly investigated the collision on Wildwood Road, closing the case with no further action. Coroner Tony Murphy reportedly recorded 'road traffic collision' as the overall conclusion of the inquest.
Dr Clare Morkane confirmed Jennifer died peacefully on 12 March 2026 at approximately 15.45 hours.
Dame Jenni Murray, born Jennifer Susan Forgham-Bailey on 12 May 1950, in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, hosted Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 for 33 years. She also served as a Daily Mail columnist.
She announced on air in 2006 her diagnosis with breast cancer. Dame Jenni received a damehood in 2011 for her contribution to broadcasting.
