Chessington World of Adventures Closes Amid Water Outage
Theme park offers return visits after burst main disrupts peak summer holiday operations in south-west London.

Chessington World of Adventures has closed for the day due to a local water outage.
Thames Water works to repair a damaged pipe, to restore water flow swiftly. The South West London theme park and zoo advised ticket holders not to travel for the day.
Customers affected by the closure qualify for a free return visit on selected dates within nine months; pre-booking is essential. Tickets booked for Monday, 10 August, will be returned or can be reused, the park confirmed.
The region faces ongoing drought conditions and hosepipe bans across parts of England. A warm week for the south east is predicted.
The closure falls squarely in the middle of the school summer holidays, a period understood to be one of the busiest for UK theme parks. Chessington Buzz claims the park was shut for health and safety reasons, following a power cut on Saturday and poor availability on Sunday.

However, one customer on social media claimed the theme park provided “no information whatsoever on why they won’t let us into the park - but rides going past with people on them.” Jessica Elgot also claimed there were “zero comms till you arrive, no refund available and only a guarantee of a return on ‘limited dates’.”
Another user claimed refunds were not available, with customers instead given a guarantee of return on an alternative date.
