Police stopped Newcastle United player Amar Dedic after he was seen carrying a bow and arrows.
Six police cars converged on the Darras Hall estate, northwest of Newcastle, on Wednesday afternoon. Dedic and a friend were seen near a reservoir in the Harlow Hill area with archery equipment, triggering a public alert to authorities.
Officers intercepted Dedic's car, seizing the bow and arrows. The stop occurred approximately seven miles from the initial sighting.
Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and former defender Paul Dummett arrived at the scene as officers spoke with Dedic. Dedic has fully cooperated with the police throughout the ongoing enquiries.

The bow and arrows were for recreational use and posed no threat to the public.

Northumbria Police
Northumbria Police confirmed the bow and arrows were for recreational use and posed no threat to the public. Newcastle believes Dedic acted naively, and he is unlikely to face a club sanction.
Dedic remains available to play for Newcastle against Fulham on Saturday.
