Buses were prevented from leaving the stadium for over an hour, and security staff held crowd members outside for a similar duration after the event concluded.
A substantial police presence, marked by blue flashing lights, was observed on the main road outside Alexander Stadium, Alex Ridout confirmed.
The cancellation of medal ceremonies was understood to be directly linked to the police incident, as several social media users claimed a 'security incident' had occurred.
