An attack ad against Ohio Democratic candidate Amy Acton features her estranged mother, Donna Arthur, urging voters not to elect her daughter.
Acton's campaign condemned the 'platforming' of her 'estranged and abusive mother' as a 'despicable low.' Philip Stearns, Acton's brother, stated, "It's not surprising that Vivek Ramaswamy has stooped to such a despicable low as to attempt to turn the sexual abuse Amy endured at twelve years old from our birth mother's husband into a political talking point."
Stearns claims Ramaswamy stooped to a despicable low by attempting to turn the sexual abuse Amy endured into a political talking point. He called Ramaswamy a pathetic excuse for a man willing to hurt anyone to get what he wants.

Acton's stepfather faced rape charges and a grand jury indictment in 1978. He pleaded not guilty. Police and court documents detailing the abuse allegations against Cledith Arthur have been obtained.
Stearns claims Acton's mother stayed married to Amy's rapist until his death. He said, "After he was arrested and Amy and I were removed from their custody, our birth mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until he died."
Donna Arthur, Acton's mother, denies her husband sexually abused Acton. She claims Acton lies about her past and has lied her entire life, stating, "She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life. My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself."
Connie Luck stated, "Everyone who knows her best, including her mother, are clearly warning Ohioans not to vote for her." Acton directed Ohio's public health department between 2019 and 2020.
