Widespread Rail Disruption Grips North West
Major electrical fault halts services across Greater Manchester, impacting multiple operators with cancellations and delays.

Train services across Greater Manchester and the North West face major disruption due to an ongoing rail fault.
Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales all report affected services. All Avanti West Coast services operating out of Macclesfield railway station are suspended.
Trains on the Liverpool Lime Street/Nottingham/Norwich routes are not running between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street. East Midlands Railway confirms this will persist "until further notice."
To mitigate the impact, rail tickets gain acceptance on all Bee Network buses and Metrolink lines across Greater Manchester. Off-Peak ticket restrictions have also been relaxed during the disruption.

Rail operators advise passengers against travel, urging them to seek alternative transport. National Rail describes the situation as "Major rail disruption"; Northern and TransPennine Express issue a direct warning: "Do not travel."
Travelers can claim a full refund if they decide not to travel. A Bee Network spokesman indicates delays and cancellations are expected on all operator routes across Greater Manchester until the end of today, Thursday, August 6.
Transport for Wales claims disruption to its services is expected until 17:30. TransPennine Express anticipates issues will resolve by 16:00.
