Wanted Man Arrested After Two-Day Salford Rooftop Standoff

Police apprehend suspect wanted on recall to prison following extensive disruption and injuries to two officers in Weaste.

Police arrested a wanted man sleeping on a Salford roof after a two-day standoff.
Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the operation; properties across the Weaste area of Salford were damaged.
Greater Manchester Police deployed a negotiator, but efforts to coax the man down proved unsuccessful for 48 hours.
Officers from GMP's specialist Tactical Aid Unit reportedly ascended a ladder to reach the suspect. He briefly resisted arrest before being pulled down and falling onto an officer.
Helen Bagnall confirmed, "During two days of disruption to the local community, we worked continuously with our partners to bring this matter to a safe conclusion."

The man faces charges including causing public nuisance, criminal damage, public order offences, burglary, and assaulting two police officers; he remains in police custody.
Helen Bagnall stated, "This was an extensive use of vital policing resources and clearly demonstrates the dangers our officers face on a daily basis in order to protect the people of Greater Manchester."
Some properties were damaged as a result of the man's actions. Authorities will work with partners to ensure affected residents receive support.
