President Donald Trump held back-to-back rallies in Texas on Tuesday.
Trump claimed Talarico is a secret vegan. He also shared an anecdote about First Lady Melania Trump correcting his pronunciation of the word 'vegan'.
Trump warned the Texas crowd that the state's meat and oil industries would face collapse if Talarico were elected. He further claimed Talarico is a secret vegan who becomes ill after eating meat.
Donald Trump stated, "You ever see him go to a barbecue and he’s trying to show – ‘I love the meat! Ahhh – I love it. Look.’ And then you see him. Where is he? He’s behind the tent puking. He’s sick as a dog."
Talarico has repeatedly denied being a vegan. Trump also claimed solar panels regularly "fry" wild animals and windmills kill birds, asserting solar power poses a lethal threat to wildlife.
Environmental regulations, Trump claimed, are "horses*".
Paxton's campaign used a video featuring Talarico's comments on God being 'non-binary' and pro-trans sentiments. Paxton also suggested Trump might consider moving to Lubbock, Texas, in the future.
Trump endorsed Paxton in the GOP primary over incumbent Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn. Paxton has faced corruption scandals, including a 2023 impeachment and separation from his wife due to alleged affairs.
