A Ford worker's protest during a presidential tour ignites controversy and highlights ongoing scrutiny of Epstein file disclosures.
TJ Sabula, a Ford F-150 plant worker, was suspended after calling President Donald Trump a 'pedophile protector' during a tour of the facility. The United Auto Workers union has backed Sabula, promising to protect his job and rights.
Ford did not provide details on the disciplinary action but stated that inappropriate comments are not condoned and that they have a process to address such incidents. Despite the suspension, Sabula has received significant support, including a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $340,000.
On January 13, 2026, President Donald Trump made an obscene gesture and mouthed an expletive towards a heckler during a tour of the Ford F-150 assembly facility in Dearborn, Michigan. The heckler shouted accusations related to Trump's alleged association with Jeffrey Epstein, which Trump has denied.
The White House defended Trump's reaction as 'appropriate and unambiguous.' The heckler, identified as Sabula, expressed concern about potential political retribution for his actions.
In separate legal developments, the Department of Justice has released less than 1% of the files related to Jeffrey Epstein. As of January 16, 2026, the DOJ has released 12,285 documents out of more than two million documents that remain under review.
The Trump administration has faced criticism for not complying with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandates the release of these documents. An independent 'special master' may be appointed to oversee the release process to ensure compliance with the law.
