Golden Globes Ceremony Marked by Unexpected Moments and Notable Wins

The Golden Globes ceremony, held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, saw one of its awards presented during a commercial break.

Timothée Chalamet secured a Golden Globe for his performance in Marty Supreme, using his acceptance speech to pay tribute to his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

Amanda Seyfried, a nominee for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, lost the category to Rose Byrne. Body language expert Judi James later claimed Seyfried's reaction to the loss appeared intentional.

The event occurred less than a month after the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner, who were found dead at their Brentwood residence on December 14, 2025. Rob Reiner had received nine Golden Globe nominations throughout his career.

Their youngest son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the killings. He has made two court appearances, most recently on Wednesday, though he has yet to enter a plea.

The award for Best Score, Motion Picture was relegated to a commercial break, while the ceremony itself maintained its tradition of lacking a formal in memoriam segment. The potential Warner Bros. Discovery sale also remained a topic of conversation throughout the night.

Wanda Sykes delivered a pointed joke about Ricky Gervais, noting his absence from the ceremony. Meanwhile, Glen Powell debuted a new look with hair and glasses, and Macaulay Culkin made his first Golden Globes appearance in 35 years.

Julia Roberts received a standing ovation while presenting an award, and 16-year-old Owen Cooper made history as the youngest recipient of the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.
