Train collides with van in West Lancashire, suspending rail services and injuring two passengers.

A man died today after a train collided with a van at a level crossing in Burscough, West Lancashire.
Paramedics and the fire service responded immediately to the scene. British Transport Police investigate the circumstances; the incident is not treated as suspicious.
Trains were suspended between Southport and Manchester, and also between Wigan Wallgate and Southport, following the collision.

Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
