Army Secretary Dan Driscoll Resigns Amid Leadership Turmoil
Departure follows reported tensions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and broader shake-up in military command.

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has resigned after 18 months in his position.
Secretary Driscoll effectively advanced President Trump’s agenda at the Department of the Army, Anna Kelly stated. Driscoll provided outstanding leadership during historic military operations, restored an emphasis on readiness and lethality, and assisted with negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Driscoll had clashed with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for several months, despite this assessment.

Adm. Lisa Franchetti was reportedly fired in February 2025. Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield was also axed.
Further dismissals include Gen. Tim Haugh and his deputy Wendy Noble in April 2024. The Air Force chief of staff was also reportedly dismissed in August.
Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore and Rear Adm. Milton Sands are also understood to have departed their posts. Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse led the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly ousted the Army's top uniformed leader, Gen. Randy George, in April. Gen. Christopher Donahue commanded U.S. Army forces in Europe and Africa.
