Americans Trevor Reed and Robert Gilman Released from Russian Detention
Conflicting accounts emerge regarding the circumstances of Robert Gilman's arrest and release, while Trevor Reed returns to the US.

American Marine Trevor Reed is en route to Washington Dulles Airport after his release from Russia.
Senior Russian official Yuri Ushakov informed Trump aides last week that President Putin agreed to sign a decree pardoning Reed for humanitarian reasons.
American representatives stated no Russian prisoners were traded to secure Reed's release.
An American official spoke directly with Reed, confirming he was walking and talking. "All things considered, he seems to be in good shape," the official added.

Reed's mother, Nina, was reportedly also on board the flight.
Separately, Robert Gilman, another former US Marine from Massachusetts, was also released from detention in Russia on Tuesday.
Russian state media reported Gilman's detention for allegedly kicking a police officer while intoxicated; some accounts claimed he was travelling by train when arrested in 2022.
Gilman's father, Vladimir Gilman, wrote in an October 2024 Boston Globe op-ed that the allegations were false.
Vladimir Gilman explained his son had fallen ill during the incident and accidentally kicked the officer.
The uninjured officer reportedly dropped the charges and did not offer testimony during Gilman's trial, according to his father.
Gilman was reportedly in extremely poor health, with Kirill Dmitriev claiming his freedom for 'humanitarian reasons' based on his condition.
