Turki Alalshikh has withdrawn his proposed takeover of Derby County.
The club confirmed the sudden reversal, ending a deal many expected to conclude within weeks.
Derby County announced discussions with Lion Sport will no longer proceed, effectively calling off the takeover for the current campaign.
Turki Alalshikh claims the protracted ratification process forced his withdrawal from the deal.
The IFR completed its assessment within 55 days, well within the 90 days legally allowed for such a review.
Last week, the IFR had communicated a 'minded-to decision' to approve the bid to all involved parties.
This development reportedly leaves many fans and stakeholders in shock.
The collapse of the takeover is also understood to raise questions about the future of manager Paul Warne, who was reportedly expected to be part of the new ownership structure.
