Tommy Robinson arrived at Southwark Crown Court today for his harassment trial.
Prosecutor Ben Holt claims Robinson used “bully-boy, intimidatory tactics” to frighten two journalists. These actions, Holt asserts, forced them to employ security or leave their homes.
Holt further claims Robinson threatened the journalists after perceiving an unnecessary intrusion into his holiday.
Robinson left the UK for Cyprus the day before three children were murdered in Southport in July 2024. Investigative journalist Mr Young was sent to Cyprus with a photographer to cover Robinson's whereabouts and activities.
I’m coming to get you.
The prosecution claims Robinson harassed the journalists through his X account. He allegedly planned to visit Mr Young's house and knock at Mr Dirnhuber's door.
Robinson is accused of telling Mr Young, “I’m coming to get you.” One direct message Robinson allegedly sent Mr Dirnhuber on X on the same day stated, “I’ll be knocking at your door.”
The prosecution claims the harassment involved X posts, direct messages, and an alleged telephone call on August 5, 2024.
Mr Justice Cavanagh, the presiding judge, instructed the jury that Robinson's political views and opinions about the Daily Mail or MailOnline are not relevant to the case.
Robinson, who founded the English Defence League, posted on social media. He thanked “everyone for the messages of love and support ahead of the latest round of lawfare being used against me.”
