Designated areas near the Isle of Dogs dock remain available, but only for qualified swimmers.
Locals state wardens, once funded by Tower Hamlets Council to patrol the area, have seen these crucial measures scrapped.
Over 100 accidental drownings have been recorded in the capital since 2020.
