Sadiq Khan Labels Donald Trump a Bully Amidst Ongoing Feud
London Mayor Responds to US President's Claims of 'No-Go' Areas and Rising Crime

Sir Sadiq Khan has labelled Donald Trump a bully and jealous of London's success.
The Mayor's response follows Trump's public statements, which have consistently alleged that London is unsafe and experiencing a surge in criminal activity.
Khan countered these assertions, stating he has the full backing of the government and Londoners. He suggested that Trump's frequent criticisms of Europe and London could be seen as 'grooming' and 'radicalising' extremists within Britain.
Official figures indicate that London's murder rate has fallen to its lowest per capita level since records began. The city is reportedly two-and-a-half times safer than New York, five times safer than Los Angeles, and twelve times safer than Chicago and Houston.
However, some reports highlight an increase in specific crime categories; shoplifting has risen by over half since 2023, and phone theft has increased by over a quarter in the last five years.
London has been dubbed the 'phone theft capital of western Europe' in light of these figures. One report on the trend noted that only one in 100 such cases results in charges or convictions.
Laila Cunningham, Reform's candidate for London mayor, has claimed the city is 'burning' and no longer safe for its residents, echoing concerns over the rising crime statistics.
The public dispute between Khan and Trump has persisted for a decade. Khan revealed that he and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani maintain regular communication.
Khan's comments are the latest salvo in a long-running feud between the Labour politician and the former US President, who have clashed on issues ranging from Brexit to terrorism.
