A mass shooting in a secluded North Carolina neighbourhood has resulted in multiple deaths.
Local authorities descended on a property at approximately 8:30 AM local time on August 5, responding to urgent reports of a mass shooting.
Deputies arriving on scene discovered multiple individuals who had been shot, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) confirms.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the State Bureau of Investigation are all on scene.
Activity centers around a single property on Brooks Road, with footage showing a two-storey home surrounded by police tape and numerous emergency vehicles.
The SBI declared the event “contained” to the address where it occurred.
There is NO THREAT to the general public, and the event is contained to the above address.
The SBI further stated: "There is NO THREAT to the general public, and the event is contained to the above address."
Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden claims investigators believe the incident was isolated, though the motive has yet to be disclosed.
