Man Charged in Death of Nine-Year-Old Girl in Arbroath
Minnie Merriman's family, camping in the area, are supported by specialist officers as police continue inquiries.

A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a nine-year-old child in Arbroath.
He is scheduled to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today, Wednesday, August 5. Police Scotland confirmed the accused and the girl knew each other.
Minnie Merriman's family, from West Yorkshire, were camping in Arbroath when the incident occurred. Specialist officers are providing support to the family.
West Yorkshire Police are assisting Police Scotland with their ongoing investigation. At least two other individuals received hospital treatment following the incident.
The 35-year-old man was taken separately to hospital by officers. Police Scotland stated no one else is being sought in connection with the incident.
A local businessman reported seeing the family cooking on an outdoor camping stove hours before Merriman's death. Another woman described a tent set up by a car as a 'weird set up'.
A police cordon secured the location, and officers sealed off a vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly removed from the scene on Tuesday.
A blue forensic tent was erected on a grassy verge outside the Halliburton Arbroath manufacturing facility. Floral tributes now mark the industrial estate.

Mike Ness confirmed a police presence will remain in the area as inquiries continue. He added: "Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by these events, especially Minnie's family."
