Jesy Nelson's Daughters Undergo Feeding Tube Removal

SMA, a rare condition, causes muscle weakness, potentially impacting a baby's ability to sit up, crawl, walk, breathe, or swallow.

Nelson expressed profound relief and joy following the successful removal of their feeding tubes. She stated, "Today is the big day. We’re taking these plasters off aren’t we? No more tuby for you in your face."

She later shared her immense happiness. "I got their face back feels like a dream," Nelson added.

The singer reflected on the emotional toll. "I've honestly forgotten what it feels like to cuddle them and not worry about pulling their tube out of their nose or plasters off their face," she noted.

Despite this immediate success, Nelson remains 'terrified' about her daughters' long-term prognosis.

Her daughters are understood to be unlikely ever to walk or develop neck strength due to irreversible nerve damage.

Nelson has openly shared her grief, stating, "I am grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children."

Separately, the Department of Health announced in July that a national newborn screening program for SMA will roll out across England from the end of the year, offering future families earlier detection.
