Chris Brown arrived at Southwark Crown Court on Monday morning for sentencing.
The Grammy-winning artist pleaded guilty to affray, an admission stemming from an incident in February 2023. Brown was arrested in May 2025 at a Manchester hotel in connection with the violence.
Prosecutors claim the fight was captured on surveillance camera inside a club filled with people. Brown reportedly struck Abraham Diaw twice over the head with a glass bottle before pursuing him through the crowded venue during the early hours of February 19, 2023.
Police indicated that Mr Diaw was at the venue around 3am when he was approached and assaulted. Detectives stated both suspects were given repeated opportunities to attend voluntary interviews under caution but did not appear.
Omololu Akinlolu, 40, joined the attack, punching Mr Diaw and kicking him while he was on the floor. Mr Diaw reportedly attended St Mary's Hospital with injuries to his head and knee.
Police said Mr Diaw was at the venue around 3am when he was approached and assaulted. Detectives stated both suspects were given repeated opportunities to attend voluntary interviews under caution but did not appear.
The offence of affray carries a maximum sentence of three years' imprisonment. Brown's release followed a court order to lodge a £5 million security, with £4 million required before leaving custody and an additional £1 million within seven days.
This money served as a financial guarantee for his return to court, not as a fine. Brown, who won his first Grammy in 2011 for “F.A.M.E.” and again in 2025 for 11:11 (Deluxe), was accompanied by security guards and wore a cap, black leather jacket, and a face mask during his court appearance.
