A one-off £150 credit will be applied to certain households' energy bills in February.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has confirmed that a one-off £150 credit will be applied to certain households' energy bills, with the payment set to be made in February.
Customers of energy suppliers like Utilita can expect to see this credit reflected on their February bill. The scheme concludes in March, with funding dates set for January 2026.
Payments will be distributed in batches throughout that month. Qualifying benefits for the scheme include Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, and Income Support.
People on seven specific Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits may receive the £150 credit in February, including those receiving the guaranteed portion of Pension Credit.
Eligible households no longer need to apply for the payment. Customers do not need to contact their supplier or complete additional paperwork to receive this discount.
However, it is crucial that customer details are up-to-date with their energy supplier. Specifically, names must match DWP records exactly as they appear on the DWP’s database.
Customers needing to change their recorded name can contact Utilita on 03303337 442. Other details can be updated via My Utilita.
For those needing to contact the DWP, a phone number is available: 0800 030 9322, effective from October 27, 2025. Live Chat is also an option for other inquiries.
This year's payments have been issued later than usual due to a new round of changes that have expanded eligibility for financial aid.
Utilita claims they are paying a greater number of customers this year, necessitating the receipt of funding to facilitate these payments. The funds will be disbursed as a lump sum, differing from previous years where it was split over winter months.
Eligible individuals will not need to apply, as the funds will be sent automatically to their electricity meter. Those without a smart meter will receive £150 worth of vouchers by post.
Utilita reports that an increased number of customers are being paid this year, requiring the receipt of government funding before payments can be issued.
