More than half, 52% of 2,000 Brits surveyed, have explored more of the UK since 2020 than in the entire preceding decade.
This surge in staycations directly stems from escalating travel costs, simpler planning, and the prospect of less stressful journeys; these economic and logistical factors are fundamentally reshaping holiday patterns.
Despite traditional concerns, 59% of those surveyed indicated that weather uncertainty does not deter their plans for a staycation.
Travellers prioritizing road trips actively seek specific features: coastal views attract 66% of respondents, while beaches draw 49%.
Great pubs and food stops also rank highly, sought after by 54% of respondents.

The Jurassic Coast route, a notable example of a popular domestic journey, stretches 95 miles from Exmouth to Studland Bay, offering both historical depth and scenic beauty.
Another significant route, the Causeway Coastal Route, links Belfast to Londonderry and spans 120 miles, providing extensive scenic travel and cultural immersion.
