Foundayo Weight Loss Pill Now Available in UK Pharmacies
New oral treatment for obesity and type 2 diabetes receives MHRA authorisation, sparking calls for NHS integration.

The daily weight loss and type 2 diabetes pill Foundayo is now available in UK pharmacies.
Eli Lilly manufactures the medication, which the MHRA authorized.
It is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 alongside a weight-related condition.
Patients can administer the medication once daily; no food or water restrictions apply.
Khalil Asmar stated, "We’re pleased that this means there is another oral treatment option for eligible UK patients alongside licensed injectable treatments."

Foundayo is also understood to improve blood sugar levels in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Eli Lilly is engaging with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to secure approval for Foundayo to be prescribed on the NHS in England.
The drug will initially be available through private prescription.

Gregg further stated, "There must now be a redoubling of efforts within government and the NHS to use pharmacies to make sure more eligible patients in clinical need can get weight loss treatments on the NHS, rather than the current postcode lottery that exists for weight management services via GPs."
