A former musical theatre performer is on trial for serious allegations of rape and sexual assault.
Ross Davidson, a former musical theatre performer who appeared in the West End production of 'We Will Rock You', has pleaded guilty to a voyeurism charge dating back to December 2019.
The charge involves the same woman who has accused him of rape and sexual assault, with the trial concerning these more serious charges currently ongoing.
Prosecutor Richard Hearnden told the court that Davidson expected sex on demand from the complainant, driven by a sense of entitlement.
Hearnden further asserted that Davidson possesses a darker side, one that drives him to commit rape and sexual assault if he does not receive what he believes he is entitled to.
In defense, Charlotte Newell KC stated that Davidson will claim there was no sexual encounter with the accuser in London, citing a lack of attraction.
Newell KC asserted that Davidson maintains the sexual touching was consensual, with the woman merely pretending to be asleep during the alleged incidents.
The prosecution's case against Davidson continues, with further evidence and testimony expected in the coming days.
The trial has raised questions about the attitudes of some men towards women, with Hearnden suggesting that men like the defendant sometimes believe they can obtain any woman without resorting to sexual offenses.
