A father has been jailed for throwing his baby daughter at a television.
Police were called to an address in Y Ferwig, Ceredigion, on January 15 last year following reports concerning the welfare of a young child.
The child's father, Rhydian Jamieson, had thrown his baby daughter at a television in a fit of rage.
The baby sustained severe injuries, including bleeding on the brain, a fractured skull, and bruising and swelling to her face and limbs.
She was initially rushed to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen before being transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The child now requires lifelong care and support for all activities, including assistance with daily tasks and ongoing medical treatment.
The court heard she has visual impairment, is likely to suffer epileptic seizures for life, and has global developmental delay with features of cerebral palsy.
The judge described the attack as an 'act of horrendous callousness and self-interest'.
Jamieson claimed he was wrongfully charged and stated he 'suffered enough pain mentally', despite the overwhelming evidence against him.
He contacted acquaintances from online gaming to confess he had 'snapped' and 'lost it', revealing his guilt and lack of remorse.
Jamieson later attempted to blame another member of the child's family for the injuries, specifically targeting his daughter's grandfather, who was not present at the property at the time.
The identity of the child is protected by reporting restrictions, ensuring her anonymity and safety.
