Ed Sheeran received a substantial fine from Bradford Magistrates’ Court for failing to insure his Aston Martin.
Aston Workshop Ltd has been restoring and converting the singer's classic vehicle to an electric model.
The DVLA initiated prosecution against the singer under the Single Justice Procedure after detecting the lack of insurance on December 17 of the previous year.
A letter from Aston Workshop Limited, intended to support the singer's case, was not present on the court system.
A court official stated this letter would not have been considered by the magistrate.
The singer claims he believed the workshop’s insurance policies covered his car. The company reportedly provided assurances of comprehensive motor trade and road risk insurance for all vehicles under their custody and control.
The singer further claims this issue stemmed from a genuine administrative misunderstanding concerning an inoperable vehicle that was not in use.
He also claims he never received the DVLA’s initial offer of an out-of-court fine.
The car was declared off-road with a SORN notice on February 1 this year.
The singer was among 1,451 individuals convicted last week for similar vehicle insurance offences.
