Closing Arguments Set in Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial
Forensic psychiatrists offered differing assessments in the five-week trial of the mother accused of killing her three children.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Thursday in the Massachusetts murder trial of Lindsay Clancy.
Clancy did not testify during the trial, which saw prosecutors call over 70 witnesses and the defense present 10.
Prosecutors claim Clancy planned the killings and understood the wrongfulness of her actions.
Conversely, defense attorneys assert Clancy suffered from postpartum psychosis and could not comprehend the wrongfulness of her actions.
The defense team also claims medical providers did not properly diagnose or treat Clancy’s condition.
Dr. Philip Resnick, a forensic psychiatrist and key witness in the Andrea Yates case, served as the defense's final witness.

He reportedly claimed Clancy was 'clearly psychotic' on the day of the killings and not in control of her actions.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington questioned the expertise, prescribing decisions, and overall treatment provided by Clancy’s own psychiatrist.
Judge William R. Sullivan allowed manslaughter to be added to the jury instructions, alongside second-degree murder.
If convicted of murder, Clancy faces a mandatory life sentence; a finding of no criminal responsibility could lead to commitment in a psychiatric facility.
Postpartum psychosis is estimated to afflict 1 to 2 per 1,000 women after delivery.
The jury will begin deliberations after hearing closing arguments from both the prosecution and defense.
Clancy is currently confined to a wheelchair and receives round-the-clock care in a psychiatric facility; the children were strangled with exercise bands.
Clancy's ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, is reportedly seeking to move to Manhattan with his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, to escape publicity surrounding the case.
