Bus Driver Shot Dead in Clapham

A 25-year-old bus driver was shot dead outside a Clapham pub on Monday night.
A 22-year-old man, who attended hospital with a gunshot wound shortly after the shooting, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The arrested man remains in hospital under police guard.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots near the venue on Monday, with some claiming to have heard several shots. Auguste-Marie Bile-aka Amoa is believed to have been dropping his girlfriend off at The Landor pub on Willington Road when he was gunned down.
Staff from The Landor pub are understood to have assisted the victim after the shooting, though a staff member clarified the incident occurred outside the pub and was unrelated to the establishment itself. Flowers were laid by the pub, and a candle was lit near its entrance following the incident.
A police forensics tent was in place across the road from The Landor pub on Tuesday. Friends of the victim claim his death was the result of being in the “wrong place, wrong time.”

A woman at the scene, however, claimed it was a case of mistaken identity. A friend of the victim described him as a “cool guy, like I said, bus driver, hard-working,” adding that his death was “shocking because of who he is and his character.”
A staff member from The Landor pub noted that this area of Clapham has “got worse” lately, with people seemingly having “lost their minds.” Clapham has experienced other violent incidents in recent years, including a stabbing last month and a fatal shooting last year.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Guiver is leading the investigation. Guiver stated, “Our thoughts remain with Bile-aka’s family as they come to terms with this tragic incident.”
She added, “We continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.” Guiver urged, “If you were in the area at the time of the shooting, witnessed anything suspicious or have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist our investigation, we urge you to get in touch.”
She emphasised that “Any piece of information could prove vital in helping us piece together the full circumstances.”
